Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, highly connected city-state rather than a traditional resort island. Hospitality, engineering, facilities management, technology, finance, healthcare and logistics offer regular employment opportunities, with strong demand for qualified technical workers. The culture is multicultural and generally orderly, combining Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences. Public transport is excellent, healthcare and infrastructure are reliable, and English is widely used at work. Living costs, especially rent, are high; shared accommodation or employer-provided housing can reduce expenses. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and sector rules. Secure a written offer before relocating, verify pass eligibility, and budget for deposits, transport and insurance. Singapore’s hot, humid climate, strict regulations and fast-paced work culture are important lifestyle considerations.
