The Senior Sales Manager (MICE) is responsible for generating and managing meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions business for Shangri-La in Indonesia. Requirements typically include a diploma or degree in hospitality, business or marketing, several years of hotel sales experience, and a strong record in MICE or corporate accounts. Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation and networking skills are essential, along with knowledge of the Indonesian hospitality market and proficiency in English. The successful candidate is expected to achieve revenue targets, develop new accounts, maintain client relationships, prepare proposals, coordinate with hotel departments and ensure events are delivered to a high standard. Flexibility, commercial awareness, professionalism and willingness to travel for sales activities are also expected.
Shangri-La is a globally recognised luxury hospitality group founded in Asia, operating hotels, resorts and related hospitality businesses across major destinations worldwide. Its properties are known for personalised service, comfortable accommodation, extensive dining options, meetings and events facilities, and a strong emphasis on guest care. In Indonesia, Shangri-La has built a reputation in the luxury hotel market, particularly among international travellers, corporate clients and event organisers. The company promotes values centred on hospitality, respect, teamwork and service excellence. Employees may benefit from structured training, international brand standards, career development opportunities and access to a broad hospitality network. Depending on the property, the working environment can be fast-paced, multicultural and commercially focused, with close cooperation between sales, rooms, food and beverage, events and finance teams.
Indonesia offers opportunities in luxury hotels, resorts, tourism, events, food and beverage, and travel services, especially in Bali, Java, Lombok and the Riau Islands. Bali is the most international island for hospitality careers, with a relaxed lifestyle, strong expatriate community and active tourism industry. Jakarta, on Java, provides larger corporate, MICE and business opportunities but has heavier traffic and a faster pace. Lombok and other resort islands offer a quieter lifestyle, although employment choices and infrastructure may be more limited. Indonesian culture values politeness, community, respect for elders and religious diversity; local customs vary considerably between regions. Foreign nationals generally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate stay visa before working. Employers commonly assist with immigration paperwork, but requirements should be confirmed with Indonesian authorities. Candidates should budget for accommodation, health insurance, transport and relocation costs, and research local living conditions before accepting an offer.
