The Chinese Restaurant Manager is responsible for overseeing daily restaurant operations, service standards, guest satisfaction, staff scheduling, cost control and revenue performance. Candidates should have several years of experience managing a Chinese or upscale restaurant, strong knowledge of Chinese cuisine and beverage service, and good leadership, communication and problem-solving skills. Fluency in English is generally expected; Mandarin or another Chinese language may be advantageous. The successful candidate should be guest-focused, commercially aware and comfortable training multicultural teams. Shangri-La will expect a polished hospitality professional who can maintain brand standards, handle guest concerns confidently and work flexibly across busy shifts, weekends and public holidays.
Shangri-La Group is a leading international hospitality company founded in Hong Kong, operating luxury hotels, resorts and city properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and other global markets. Its portfolio includes the Shangri-La, Kerry, JEN and Traders brands. The company is known for warm Asian hospitality, high service standards and comprehensive guest experiences covering accommodation, dining, meetings, wellness and recreation. Shangri-La properties typically provide structured training, multicultural workplaces and opportunities for career development within the group. In Indonesia, the company has operated prominent hotels and resorts serving business travellers, leisure guests and international events. Employees are generally expected to demonstrate professionalism, genuine care, teamwork and attention to detail while delivering the company’s signature service culture.
Indonesia offers hospitality opportunities across Bali, Java, Lombok, Batam and other resort destinations. Bali has the largest international tourism market and abundant hotel and restaurant jobs, while Jakarta and Surabaya provide stronger corporate and city-hotel opportunities. Indonesian culture values courtesy, community, respect for elders and religious diversity; workplaces are often multicultural and service-oriented. Lifestyle options range from beaches, diving and outdoor activities to busy urban living, with living costs varying considerably by island and location. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work permit and stay visa before starting work; requirements can change, so confirmation with the employer and Indonesian immigration authorities is essential. Relocation packages may include accommodation, meals, flights, insurance or transport, but these benefits should be confirmed in writing. Learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is highly useful for daily life and staff communication.
