The Security Supervisor is responsible for protecting guests, colleagues, hotel property and assets while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment. Typical requirements include previous hotel, hospitality, security or supervisory experience; knowledge of security procedures, emergency response, access control, incident reporting and local regulations; good communication skills; and the ability to work shifts, weekends and public holidays. A valid security personnel permit or relevant Hong Kong licensing may be required. Shangri-La expects a calm, observant and professional candidate who can lead security officers, respond quickly to incidents, coordinate with police or emergency services, investigate and document unusual events, and deliver courteous guest service. Fluency in English and Cantonese is advantageous, with Mandarin also useful.

Its properties typically offer accommodation, restaurants, meeting facilities, wellness services and extensive guest amenities. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on warm hospitality, personalised service, colleague development and responsible business practices. In Hong Kong, its portfolio includes established luxury hotels serving international travellers, business guests, local residents and major events. Working for the group can provide exposure to a multicultural workplace, structured hotel operations and opportunities to progress within a global hospitality network.
Hong Kong is a compact, energetic destination combining dense urban districts, traditional neighbourhoods, mountains, beaches and outlying islands. Hospitality, tourism, restaurants, retail, aviation, finance and security services provide regular employment opportunities, particularly for candidates with language skills and hotel experience. The culture blends Chinese traditions with international influences; politeness, efficiency and respect for hierarchy are valued. Living costs are high, especially for accommodation, although public transport is excellent and daily life is convenient. Salaries, employer-provided meals, uniforms, medical benefits or staff accommodation vary by hotel. Foreign nationals generally need a job offer and an employment visa sponsored by the employer, while eligibility depends on qualifications, experience and market need. Hong Kong permanent residents have broader work rights. Before relocating, confirm visa sponsorship, housing arrangements, shift patterns, insurance, taxes and contract terms. Cantonese is valuable, while English is widely used in international hotels.
