About the employer

Shangri-La is a Hong Kong-founded luxury hospitality group operating hotels, resorts and other hospitality businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and Africa. The company is recognised for its Asian-inspired service culture, distinctive Shangri-La hospitality and emphasis on personalised guest experiences. Its portfolio includes Shangri-La, Kerry Hotels, JEN by Shangri-La and Traders brands, serving luxury, business and leisure travellers. Corporate functions support brand reputation, communications, commercial performance, people development and responsible business practices across the group. In Hong Kong, Shangri-La has a long-standing presence and is associated with prominent luxury properties such as Island Shangri-La and Kowloon Shangri-La. Employees generally work in an international environment where polished communication, cultural awareness, discretion, teamwork and high service standards are important.

Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hospitality, luxury retail, finance, technology, professional services, media and communications. Its international business environment suits candidates with English skills, while Cantonese and Mandarin can significantly improve career prospects. Life is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, dense urban neighbourhoods, diverse restaurants, hiking trails, beaches and nearby islands. Housing is expensive, particularly on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon, so many professionals compare commute time with rent and consider areas such as the New Territories. Foreign professionals normally need an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong employer, with approval depending on qualifications, salary, relevant experience and the availability of a genuine position. Employers often assist with visa documentation, but candidates should confirm relocation, housing, medical coverage and tax arrangements before accepting an offer. Hong Kong has a subtropical climate, a fast-paced work culture and excellent regional travel connections.
