Shangri-La Group is a Hong Kong-founded luxury hospitality company operating hotels, resorts and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. Its portfolio includes Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Kerry Hotels, JEN by Shangri-La and Traders Hotels. The group is known for Asian-inspired hospitality, attentive service and premium accommodation, dining, meetings and leisure experiences. In Malaysia, Shangri-La properties serve business and leisure travelers and typically include restaurants, event facilities, wellness services and conference operations. Employees work in a structured, multicultural environment where guest satisfaction, teamwork, presentation and commercial performance are important. Sales and marketing teams commonly collaborate with rooms, food and beverage, events and revenue departments to build occupancy, group business, partnerships and brand visibility.
Malaysia is not a single island destination; it includes Peninsular Malaysia and island regions such as Langkawi, Penang, Sabah and Sarawak on Borneo. Hospitality, tourism, retail, technology, manufacturing and shared-services sectors provide employment opportunities, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and resort areas. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences, and English is widely used in business and hotels. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed beach and rainforest communities, with generally affordable food and transport outside central Kuala Lumpur. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored employment pass, and the company generally handles approval and immigration procedures; working before authorization is not permitted. Candidates should confirm salary, housing, insurance, transport, tax obligations and location before relocating. Island positions may involve seasonal demand and higher living costs for imported goods.
