The company is known for warm Asian hospitality, high service standards and distinctive guest experiences. In the Philippines, Shangri-La operates several prominent properties, including Shangri-La The Fort in Manila, Edsa Shangri-La, Shangri-La Mactan in Cebu and Shangri-La Boracay. Its hotels employ professionals across food and beverage, rooms, culinary operations, engineering, wellness and guest services. The Philippines is an archipelago offering varied opportunities in luxury resorts, hotels, restaurants, tourism, diving and events. Major employment hubs include Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan and Davao. Resort work can provide a relaxed coastal lifestyle, but schedules are demanding and commonly include weekends and holidays. Filipino culture is friendly, community oriented and strongly influenced by family, faith, music and excellent English communication. Living costs vary: Manila is generally more expensive, while provincial islands may offer lower rent but fewer services. Popular destinations such as Boracay and Palawan have beaches, water sports and outdoor activities, although seasonal weather and transport disruptions should be considered. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored Alien Employment Permit and an appropriate work visa, commonly a 9(g) pre-arranged employment visa. Confirm sponsorship, accommodation, taxes and contract terms before relocating.
