The Senior IT Officer supports the hotel’s technology operations, including hardware, software, networks, user accounts, security systems and property-management applications. Candidates are generally expected to hold a diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field, with several years of experience in hotel or corporate IT support. Strong troubleshooting, communication and organizational skills are important, along with knowledge of Windows systems, networking, cybersecurity and common hospitality applications. The role requires a service-minded professional who can respond quickly to operational issues, support colleagues across departments, maintain reliable systems and follow Shangri-La’s information-security and service standards. Shift work, occasional on-call support and coordination with vendors may also be required.
Shangri-La Group is a major luxury hospitality company founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. Its portfolio includes the Shangri-La, Kerry, JEN and Traders brands, as well as resorts and destination properties. The group is known for warm Asian hospitality, premium accommodation, restaurants, wellness facilities and conference services. In Malaysia, Shangri-La properties employ teams across hotel operations, guest services, food and beverage, engineering, finance, sales and information technology. Employees typically work in a multicultural environment with structured procedures, guest-focused service expectations and opportunities to develop within an international hotel organization.
Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hotels, resorts, technology, shared services, retail and tourism. Popular island destinations include Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, Redang and parts of Sabah, while Kuala Lumpur remains the main commercial and technology hub. Local culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences reflected in food, festivals, languages and daily life. Island living is generally relaxed, warm and community-oriented, although transport, healthcare and shopping can be more limited than in major cities. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass before beginning work; the company usually handles the application and supporting documents. Relocating candidates should confirm accommodation, tax, medical coverage, dependent permissions and travel arrangements with HR. Costs vary considerably by location, with resort areas sometimes having higher prices for imported goods.
