The Room Attendant is responsible for cleaning and servicing guest rooms, bathrooms, corridors and related areas to Shangri-La’s standards. Duties include changing linens, replenishing amenities, reporting maintenance issues, handling guest requests and following hygiene, safety and lost-and-found procedures. Candidates should be physically fit, detail-oriented, dependable and comfortable working shifts, weekends and public holidays. Previous hotel housekeeping or cleaning experience is preferred. Basic Cantonese, English or Mandarin communication skills are useful, along with a friendly attitude, discretion and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and known for its hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The group operates premium properties under the Shangri-La brand and is recognised for personalised service, comfortable surroundings and strong attention to guest experience. Its Hong Kong hotels serve business and leisure travellers and offer accommodation, dining, events, wellness and leisure facilities. Shangri-La generally promotes professional development, teamwork, service excellence and cultural diversity. Benefits for hotel employees may include staff meals, uniforms, medical coverage, training, transport or accommodation assistance, and discounted stays, although the exact package depends on the property and employment contract.
Hong Kong offers employment opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, technology, logistics and tourism. Hospitality roles are concentrated on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, Lantau and major resort districts, with strong demand for people who speak English, Cantonese or Mandarin. The culture combines Chinese traditions, international influences, efficient public transport, excellent food and a fast-paced urban lifestyle. Rent can be high, so staff accommodation or shared housing is valuable. Hong Kong has convenient rail, ferry and airport connections, beaches, hiking trails and nearby islands for weekend trips. Foreign nationals normally need an employment visa sponsored by an employer before starting work; applications usually require a confirmed job, qualifications or experience and proof of suitable remuneration. Dependants may be eligible for dependant visas. Applicants should confirm visa rules, housing, medical coverage, working hours and service-charge arrangements with Shangri-La before relocating.
