Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a compact, energetic destination with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, technology, logistics and professional services. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences, and daily life offers excellent food, efficient public transport, hiking trails, beaches and a lively arts scene. Accommodation can be expensive, particularly in central districts, so many workers live in areas such as Kowloon, the New Territories or outlying islands and commute by MTR, bus or ferry. Overseas employees generally need an appropriate employment visa before starting work; the employer usually supports the application, and approval depends on qualifications, a confirmed job and local immigration requirements. Applicants should verify visa, insurance, tax and accommodation details before relocating.
