Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers strong employment opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, technology, logistics, and professional services. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences, with festivals, dim sum, temples, markets, museums, and a fast-paced urban lifestyle. Living costs, especially rent, are high, although public transport is efficient and extensive. Outdoor attractions include beaches, hiking trails, islands, and country parks. Foreign workers generally need an approved employment visa before starting work; the employer usually sponsors the application, and the role must meet immigration requirements. New arrivals should prepare a valid passport, employment contract, qualifications or experience records, accommodation plans, and sufficient funds. Hong Kong uses the Hong Kong dollar, and Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in workplaces and tourism.
