The Steam Press Operator works in the hotel laundry operation, pressing and finishing uniforms, guest garments, linens, towels and other textiles using steam-pressing equipment. Candidates should preferably have previous laundry, garment-care or hotel experience, basic knowledge of fabric types and safe equipment operation, and good physical stamina. Attention to detail is essential to ensure clothing is clean, properly pressed and presented to Shangri-La standards. The successful candidate is expected to work efficiently, follow safety and hygiene procedures, maintain equipment and meet daily quality and productivity targets. Flexibility for shifts, weekends and public holidays, along with a cooperative attitude and basic Cantonese or English communication skills, may be required.
Shangri-La is a leading luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, with hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international destinations. The group is known for warm Asian hospitality, high service standards and distinctive luxury properties. Its Hong Kong hotels serve business and leisure guests, conferences, restaurants, wellness facilities and long-stay visitors. Employees typically work in a multicultural environment with structured hotel procedures, training opportunities and internal career mobility. A Steam Press Operator would generally be part of the laundry or housekeeping operation, supporting guest comfort and presentation by ensuring uniforms, linens and garments are finished to a consistently high standard. Shangri-La places emphasis on professionalism, service excellence, teamwork, grooming, safety and attention to detail.
Hong Kong offers extensive opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, logistics, technology and professional services, although competition can be strong. The culture combines Cantonese traditions, international influences, festivals, excellent food and a fast-paced urban lifestyle. Public transport is highly efficient, and residents enjoy shopping, hiking, beaches, islands and vibrant nightlife alongside demanding work schedules. Housing is expensive, particularly in central districts, so many employees share apartments or live in areas such as the New Territories, Kowloon or Hong Kong Island’s outer neighborhoods. Foreign nationals normally need a valid employment visa sponsored by an employer before starting work; eligibility depends on qualifications, experience, salary and the role’s local recruitment conditions. Employers may provide guidance on documentation, medical checks and relocation, but candidates should confirm visa terms directly with Shangri-La and Hong Kong Immigration. Cantonese is valuable, while English is widely used in international hotels.
