Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, finance, retail, logistics and professional services. The hospitality sector is international and can provide career progression for candidates with relevant experience and language skills. Local culture blends Cantonese traditions, Chinese festivals and food culture with global influences. Life is fast-paced, urban and convenient, with excellent public transport, extensive dining, shopping, hiking trails and nearby beaches. Housing can be expensive, particularly on Hong Kong Island and in central districts, so many employees consider Kowloon or the New Territories. Foreign workers normally need an appropriate employment visa before starting work; the employer generally sponsors the application and must demonstrate a genuine job offer and suitable qualifications. Applicants should confirm visa eligibility, medical or document requirements, accommodation arrangements, working hours and benefits directly with Shangri-La. Hong Kong is a city and territory rather than a single island, with diverse communities and easy ferry access to surrounding islands.
