Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a compact, energetic international city made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, with numerous outlying islands. Hospitality opportunities are strong in luxury hotels, restaurants, bars, clubs, events and tourism, particularly for candidates with fine-dining, wine, language or guest-relations experience. The city blends Cantonese traditions, international business culture, festivals, temples and a highly diverse dining scene. Lifestyle is fast-paced, convenient and urban, with excellent public transport, hiking, beaches and vibrant nightlife, although housing can be expensive. Most foreign employees require an employer-sponsored employment visa under the General Employment Policy and must meet qualification and salary requirements. Employers commonly assist with visa documentation, but candidates should confirm eligibility before relocating. Rent, healthcare, taxes and dependent arrangements should be researched carefully; Hong Kong salaries may include service charges or allowances depending on the employer.
