Working in Indonesia

Indonesia offers hospitality opportunities across Bali, Java, Lombok, Sumatra and other islands. Bali is the most internationally oriented market, with strong demand in resorts, restaurants, wellness, events and tourism marketing. Jakarta and Surabaya provide larger corporate and luxury-hotel sectors, while Lombok and destinations such as Labuan Bajo offer growing resort opportunities. The culture is diverse, community-minded and generally welcoming, with local customs, religious observances and respectful dress important to understand. Lifestyle ranges from busy metropolitan living to relaxed beach or island communities, but traffic, humidity and seasonal tourism can affect daily life. Foreign employees normally require employer sponsorship and the appropriate work authorization, commonly involving a work permit and limited-stay visa; requirements can change, so official Indonesian immigration guidance should be checked. Employers may assist with paperwork, accommodation, insurance, flights or relocation, but these benefits should be confirmed in writing.
