About the employer

United Overseas Bank (UOB) is a major Singapore-based bank with operations across Southeast Asia and other international markets. Founded in 1935, it provides personal and business banking, wealth management, commercial banking, investment banking, and related financial services. UOB expanded its presence in Indonesia through the acquisition of Citigroup’s consumer banking business, strengthening its retail and wealth franchise in the country. The bank serves individuals, entrepreneurs, companies, and institutions through branches, digital channels, and relationship-based services. Its Indonesian operations focus on customer growth, responsible lending, transaction banking, and digital innovation while maintaining strong standards for risk management and regulatory compliance. The organisation offers career opportunities in branch banking, sales, operations, technology, risk, finance, and corporate banking. Its Jakarta branches support customers in one of Indonesia’s most commercially active markets.

Working in Indonesia

Indonesia is an archipelago, and this role is based in Jakarta on Java, the country’s main business island. Job opportunities are strongest in banking, technology, e-commerce, manufacturing, tourism, logistics, and professional services, especially in Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, Bali, and Batam. Indonesian workplace culture generally values respect for hierarchy, teamwork, relationship-building, and polite communication. Jakarta offers extensive dining, shopping, transport links, and international communities, but also heavy traffic, humidity, and a relatively high cost of living. Bali provides a more relaxed lifestyle but fewer senior banking roles. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work permit and limited-stay visa; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Relocating candidates should arrange a formal employment contract, verify benefits, budget for housing and healthcare, and learn basic Bahasa Indonesia. Local banking experience and Indonesian language ability are valuable.
