Strong writing, presentation, stakeholder-management and project-coordination skills are expected. Experience in banking, regulated industries or recognised security certifications may be advantageous.
United Overseas Bank (UOB) is a major Singapore-headquartered bank with operations across Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam, as well as selected markets in Asia-Pacific and other financial centres. Established in 1935, the group provides personal and commercial banking, wealth management, investment banking, transaction banking and digital financial services. UOB serves consumers, businesses and institutional clients through branches, digital channels and specialist teams. In Malaysia, it operates as UOB Malaysia and supports retail, business and corporate customers. The bank places strong emphasis on responsible banking, technology, operational resilience, cybersecurity and employee development. Its security awareness functions help protect customer information, strengthen regulatory compliance and encourage secure behaviour among staff and business partners.
Malaysia offers opportunities in banking, technology, cybersecurity, shared services, finance, manufacturing and tourism, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor and Sabah. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences, and English is widely used in professional workplaces. Lifestyle costs are generally moderate, though central Kuala Lumpur and popular island destinations are more expensive. Employees can enjoy diverse food, tropical weather, beaches, rainforests and weekend travel to Langkawi, Penang, Sabah or Sarawak. Foreign hires normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with the hiring company handling approval and documentation; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, role and current immigration rules. Relocating workers should arrange a passport, certified qualifications, accommodation, healthcare coverage and tax registration, and check the latest requirements with UOB and Malaysian authorities before travelling.
