Working in Australia

Australia is a large island country with strong job opportunities in hospitality, tourism, healthcare, construction, agriculture and technology. Resort destinations such as Port Douglas offer work in hotels, restaurants, tours, housekeeping and marine tourism, although seasonal employment and housing costs should be considered. Australian workplace culture is generally informal, practical and multicultural, with emphasis on punctuality, safety, equality and clear communication. Port Douglas provides a warm tropical lifestyle, beaches, outdoor activities and access to the Great Barrier Reef, but is quieter and more remote than major cities. Most overseas workers need an appropriate visa, such as a Working Holiday visa, employer-sponsored visa or another permit allowing employment. Check eligibility, age limits, occupation rules and work conditions with the Australian Department of Home Affairs. Arrange accommodation, tax file registration, banking, health insurance and reliable transport before relocating.
