The Planner, Drydock PMO supports the planning, scheduling, tracking, and reporting of major drydock projects across Carnival Cruise Line vessels. Requirements typically include experience in project planning, maintenance, ship repair, construction, engineering, or a related field; strong skills in scheduling tools, spreadsheets, documentation, and project controls are expected. The candidate should be organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable coordinating multiple departments, contractors, shipboard teams, and shoreside stakeholders. The role requires clear communication, the ability to monitor deadlines, identify schedule risks, maintain accurate project records, and work effectively in a fast-paced maritime environment. Travel, ship visits, and occasional flexible hours may be required around drydock periods.
Carnival Cruise Line is one of the world’s best-known cruise operators and a flagship brand of Carnival Corporation & plc. Headquartered in Miami, Florida, the company operates a large fleet serving destinations throughout the Caribbean, North America, Europe, and other international regions. Carnival is recognized for relaxed, family-friendly vacations, lively onboard entertainment, diverse dining, and a broad range of shore excursions. Its shoreside teams support ship operations, maintenance, guest services, commercial activities, technology, and corporate functions, while shipboard employees deliver the guest experience at sea. As a major employer in the cruise industry, Carnival offers opportunities across maritime operations, engineering, hospitality, finance, technology, and project management. The company places strong emphasis on safety, operational reliability, teamwork, compliance, and creating memorable experiences for its guests.
A cruise-based role is different from working on one permanent island. Opportunities may be based at Carnival’s Miami headquarters, shipyards, ports, or aboard vessels visiting destinations such as the Caribbean, Mexico, Alaska, and Europe. Cruise culture is international, team-oriented, and highly structured, with long working days during major projects such as drydock periods. Shipboard lifestyles offer travel, shared accommodation, onboard facilities, and limited personal space, while shoreside roles provide a more conventional routine. Visa and work authorization requirements depend on the employee’s nationality, job location, and vessel itinerary. U.S.-based positions generally require legal authorization to work in the United States; ship assignments may require maritime crew visas, medical clearance, background checks, and safety training. Relocation to Miami or periodic travel may be necessary, and employees should confirm requirements directly with Carnival before accepting an offer.
