About the employer

Established in 1987, the group works with international brands across product design, development, manufacturing, technology, and supply-chain services. Its portfolio includes sportswear, lingerie, swimwear, wearable technology, and performance apparel, supported by operations in Sri Lanka and several overseas locations. MAS is known for innovation, ethical manufacturing, sustainability, and strong partnerships with global fashion and sports brands. The company employs a large workforce and places emphasis on employee development, workplace wellbeing, inclusion, and responsible business practices. An intern joining a compliance, health and safety team may gain exposure to factory operations, workplace standards, audits, risk controls, and continuous-improvement activities within a large, internationally connected manufacturing environment.

Working in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel and manufacturing, IT and business services, tourism, logistics, engineering, finance, healthcare, and education. Colombo is the main commercial centre, while Kandy, Galle, Katunayake, and regional industrial zones also provide employment. The culture combines Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and other traditions, with strong family values, religious diversity, and a generally welcoming social atmosphere. Lifestyle costs are lower than in many major international cities, although Colombo is more expensive; public transport is affordable and beaches, hill country, wildlife, and historic sites are easily accessible. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored employment visa or residence approval and a valid work permit; tourist visas do not authorize employment. Interns should confirm sponsorship, accommodation, insurance, taxes, and documentation with the employer before relocating.
