Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel manufacturing, engineering, information technology, tourism, finance, logistics, healthcare, and business services. Colombo and nearby industrial zones have the broadest range of professional roles, while cities such as Kandy, Galle, and Katunayake also provide employment options. The culture combines South Asian traditions with strong influences from Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and Christianity. People generally value hospitality, respect, and community. Living costs are moderate, though Colombo is more expensive than other areas. Public buses and trains are affordable, while taxis and ride-hailing services are widely available. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate employment or residence visa arranged with employer support; a tourist visa does not permit employment. Interns should confirm sponsorship, accommodation, insurance, taxes, and work authorization before relocating. Sri Lanka has tropical weather, varied food, beaches, mountains, and national parks, offering a rewarding lifestyle alongside work.
