This internship is suited to an undergraduate or recent graduate studying Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline. The candidate is expected to understand basic work-study methods, process mapping, time studies, productivity measurement, line balancing, and data analysis. Familiarity with Excel and a willingness to learn lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and production-planning practices would be valuable. The role may involve observing factory processes, collecting and analysing production data, identifying efficiency improvements, preparing reports, and supporting improvement projects. MAS Holdings will expect a proactive, analytical, safety-conscious team member with good communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work professionally in a fast-paced apparel manufacturing environment.
MAS Holdings is one of South Asia’s largest apparel and textile companies, headquartered in Sri Lanka. The group designs, develops, manufactures, and supplies clothing and activewear for leading international brands. Its operations cover apparel manufacturing, fabric and material innovation, technology, logistics, and related services, with facilities and partnerships across several countries. MAS is recognised for combining advanced manufacturing with product development, sustainability, ethical employment practices, and innovation. The company employs a large international workforce and offers opportunities across engineering, industrial engineering, production, quality, supply chain, technology, merchandising, and corporate functions. An Industrial Engineering intern may gain exposure to factory operations, productivity improvement, lean principles, work measurement, and cross-functional collaboration in a structured manufacturing environment.
Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel manufacturing, engineering, information technology, tourism, finance, logistics, and business services, with Colombo and nearby industrial zones providing the broadest employment market. The island has a warm tropical climate, affordable living compared with many international destinations, and a lifestyle shaped by close family ties, religious diversity, cricket, food, beaches, and public holidays. English is widely used in professional workplaces, while Sinhala and Tamil are the main local languages. Colombo has the greatest range of housing, transport, healthcare, and international amenities; other regions offer a quieter and generally less expensive lifestyle. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate employment or residence visa sponsored or supported by an employer, and should confirm current requirements with Sri Lankan immigration authorities. Internships may have separate eligibility and permit conditions, so arrangements should be checked before relocation.
