Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel manufacturing, information technology, shared services, logistics, finance, tourism, engineering and healthcare. Colombo and nearby suburbs have the widest range of professional jobs, while Kandy, Galle and industrial zones provide additional opportunities. The culture is friendly and diverse, with Sinhala, Tamil and English widely used; respect for family, religion and local customs is important. Lifestyle costs are generally lower than in many international cities, although Colombo housing and imported goods can be expensive. The island provides beaches, mountains, wildlife, historic cities and a tropical climate. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored employment visa or residence approval and must not work on a tourist visa. Candidates should confirm sponsorship, documentation, taxation, accommodation and healthcare arrangements with the employer before relocating.
