About the employer

MAS Holdings is one of South Asia’s largest apparel and textile manufacturers, headquartered in Sri Lanka. The company designs, develops, and manufactures clothing, intimate wear, sportswear, performance apparel, and related textile products for leading international brands. MAS operates across several countries and is recognised for combining advanced manufacturing with product innovation, sustainability, ethical employment practices, and supply-chain expertise. Its Sri Lankan operations include modern manufacturing facilities, research and development capabilities, and teams working in engineering, automation, quality, merchandising, logistics, and business services. The company has a strong reputation for investing in employee development and technology. An Autonomation internship would typically offer exposure to factory processes, smart manufacturing, Lean improvement methods, and practical engineering projects within a large export-oriented organisation.

Working in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel manufacturing, engineering, IT, finance, tourism, logistics, healthcare, and renewable energy. Colombo and nearby industrial zones provide the widest range of professional roles, while Kandy, Galle, and other regional centres offer growing opportunities. The island’s culture blends Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim, and colonial influences, with strong traditions of hospitality, family life, religious festivals, and distinctive cuisine. Living costs are generally lower than in many international cities, although Colombo rents and imported goods can be expensive. Public buses and trains are affordable, while ride-hailing services are common in urban areas. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate employment visa or residence approval sponsored by an employer; a tourist visa does not permit employment. Interns should confirm eligibility, accommodation, insurance, taxes, and work authorisation with MAS Holdings and Sri Lankan immigration before relocating.
