Candidates are expected to have a bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or a related field, along with several years of relevant experience, preferably in hospitality or a multinational organisation. Strong writing, editing, presentation, project-management and relationship-building skills are essential. About the employer

Shangri-La Group is a luxury hospitality company founded in Hong Kong and recognised for its hotels, resorts and distinctive Asian-inspired service. The group operates properties under brands including Shangri-La, Kerry Hotels, JEN by Shangri-La and Traders across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. Its portfolio covers luxury accommodation, restaurants, wellness facilities, meetings and events, and related hospitality services. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on genuine care, personalised guest experiences, responsible business practices and developing colleagues through international career opportunities. A corporate and marketing communications role in Hong Kong would support the group’s brand reputation, internal communications and external engagement in its home market, while working with regional and global teams.

Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, technology, retail, aviation, education and professional services. The culture blends Chinese traditions with international influences, and Cantonese is widely spoken alongside English and Mandarin. Life is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, varied dining, shopping, nightlife, hiking trails and nearby beaches. Housing is expensive, particularly in central districts, so many professionals live in Kowloon or the New Territories and commute by MTR. Overseas employees generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer; applicants usually require a confirmed job, relevant qualifications and experience, and proof that the role cannot readily be filled locally. Dependants may often apply for accompanying visas. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, insurance, banking and a Hong Kong identity card after approval. Work culture can be fast-paced, hierarchical and highly competitive, but the city provides excellent regional exposure and career mobility.
