Experience in a luxury hotel environment and familiarity with budgeting, inventory and scheduling are desirable.

About the employer

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a Hong Kong-based luxury hospitality group operating hotels, resorts and related properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The company is known for personalized service, refined dining, strong employee training and its Asian-inspired approach to hospitality. Shangri-La properties in Indonesia serve business and leisure travelers, offering accommodation, restaurants, banqueting, wellness facilities and conference services. The group promotes warm, genuine hospitality and generally expects employees to maintain polished professional standards, cultural awareness and close attention to guest needs. Benefits and working conditions vary by property and position, but hospitality roles may include service charge, meals, uniforms, insurance, training and career-development opportunities. A Chinese Restaurant Manager would typically work closely with culinary, front office, sales and finance teams while representing the hotel’s dining standards.

Working in Indonesia

Indonesia offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, aviation and property services, particularly in Bali, Java, Lombok and the Riau Islands. Bali is internationally popular and has a relaxed, multicultural lifestyle, while Jakarta and Surabaya provide larger professional networks and more urban amenities. Indonesian culture values hospitality, respect for elders, community, modesty and religious diversity. Living costs vary: Bali tourist areas can be expensive, whereas many parts of Java are more affordable. Employees should expect tropical weather, traffic in major cities and a work culture that values flexibility and relationships. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate limited-stay visa; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Employers often coordinate immigration paperwork, but candidates should confirm sponsorship, housing, insurance, taxes and contract terms before relocating. Learning basic Indonesian is highly useful for daily life and workplace integration.
