Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is a modern Gulf destination made up of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the widest range of hospitality, engineering and corporate opportunities. The culture combines Islamic traditions, Emirati heritage and a highly international working environment. People generally value respect, modesty, punctuality and professional courtesy. Lifestyle options range from beaches, shopping and restaurants to desert activities, museums and outdoor attractions, although summers are extremely hot. UAE Nationals applying for roles benefit from Emiratisation programs and normally do not need an employment visa. Expatriate employees require employer-sponsored residence and work permits, medical checks and Emirates ID registration. Employers may provide accommodation, transport, meals, insurance or relocation support, but this must be confirmed in the offer. Costs vary considerably, particularly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, so housing and commuting arrangements should be reviewed carefully before relocating.
