The Senior Corporate Counsel will provide legal advice to Shangri-La’s corporate and operational teams, with a primary focus on disputes, litigation, investigations, contracts, risk management and regulatory matters. The role typically requires a qualified solicitor or barrister with substantial post-qualification experience, preferably gained in a leading law firm or multinational company. Experience handling commercial disputes in Hong Kong or other common-law jurisdictions, strong drafting and negotiation skills, and sound knowledge of corporate and hospitality-related matters are expected. The successful candidate should be commercially minded, discreet, analytical and confident advising senior stakeholders across multiple markets. Excellent communication, judgment, project-management skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced international environment are essential.
Shangri-La Group is a major luxury hospitality company founded in Hong Kong and known for its hotels, resorts and serviced residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The group operates under brands including Shangri-La, Kerry Hotels, JEN by Shangri-La and Traders. Its properties are recognised for high service standards, premium accommodation, dining, wellness and conference facilities. Corporate functions support a geographically diverse portfolio involving hotel operations, property development, commercial partnerships and shared services. Working for Shangri-La can provide exposure to complex cross-border legal, commercial and operational matters, as well as collaboration with teams from different cultures. The company generally values professionalism, hospitality, integrity, guest focus and long-term relationship building.
Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in legal services, finance, technology, hospitality, property, trading and professional consulting. Its legal market is international, with English widely used in business and common-law expertise particularly valuable. The city combines dense urban living, efficient public transport, global dining and shopping with beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Housing is expensive, although employers may offer relocation assistance, medical cover or housing-related benefits for senior hires. Foreign professionals generally need an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong employer, with approval depending on qualifications, relevant experience, salary and the availability of a genuine role. Dependants can usually apply for dependant visas. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, banking, insurance and tax advice. Hong Kong’s fast pace, long working hours and high living costs can be demanding, but its international environment and connectivity make it attractive for experienced professionals.
