Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in legal services, hospitality, finance, technology, property and regional corporate operations. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions, international business and influences from its British history, with excellent food, festivals, museums and a fast-paced urban lifestyle. Housing can be expensive, but public transport is efficient and the city provides easy access to beaches, hiking trails, islands and nearby Asian destinations. Overseas professionals generally need an employment visa arranged through an approved sponsoring employer. The General Employment Policy usually requires a confirmed job, suitable qualifications or experience, a genuine vacancy and remuneration broadly comparable with the local market. Employers commonly assist with visa applications, relocation and sometimes housing or medical benefits. Hong Kong is compact and convenient, though demanding work schedules and high living costs should be considered before relocating.
