Working in Indonesia

Indonesia is an archipelago offering hospitality opportunities in Bali, Java, Lombok, Batam, and other tourist destinations. Roles are available in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, events, and guest services, with larger international properties often providing training and career progression. Bali offers an international, relaxed lifestyle with strong tourism infrastructure, while Jakarta provides a busy urban environment and broader corporate opportunities. Indonesian culture values courtesy, community, respect for elders, and religious diversity; modest dress and sensitivity toward local customs are important. Living costs vary significantly, with Bali and Jakarta generally more expensive than smaller islands. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and the appropriate work and stay permits before starting employment. Relocation packages, staff accommodation, meals, transport, and flights depend on the employer. Candidates should confirm visa sponsorship, contract terms, housing, insurance, and service-charge arrangements directly with Shangri-La.
