About the employer

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a luxury hospitality group founded in Asia and recognised internationally for its service culture, distinctive properties and focus on genuine care. The group operates hotels, resorts and related hospitality businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and other key destinations. Shangri-La properties commonly provide accommodation, restaurants, event facilities, wellness services and leisure experiences for business and holiday guests. Employees are generally expected to demonstrate the company’s hospitality values, professional standards and commitment to memorable guest experiences. In Indonesia, Shangri-La has operated established luxury hotels and resorts, including properties in Jakarta and Bali. Benefits and working conditions vary by location, but hospitality employees may receive staff meals, uniforms, training, service charge eligibility and career development opportunities, subject to local policy and employment terms.

Working in Indonesia

Indonesia offers hospitality opportunities across Bali, Java, Lombok, the Riau Islands and other resort destinations. Bali is the most internationally oriented market, with strong demand for chefs, hotel operations, food and beverage, wellness and tourism professionals. Jakarta provides broader corporate and luxury-hotel opportunities, while Lombok and nearby islands offer a quieter resort lifestyle. Local culture values community, respect, religious diversity and warm personal interaction; employees should be prepared for tropical weather, busy peak seasons and varying transport infrastructure. Costs are generally manageable outside central Jakarta and prime Bali areas. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate limited-stay work visa before employment begins; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Employers usually guide the immigration process, but candidates should confirm sponsorship, accommodation, insurance, salary, service charge and relocation support in writing.
