The successful candidate is expected to provide polite, prompt, and personalised service consistent with Shangri-La standards.

About the employer

Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and recognised for its Asian-inspired service, elegant hotels, resorts, and restaurants. The group operates properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and other international destinations. Its Hong Kong hotels are known for premium accommodation, dining, event facilities, and personalised guest experiences. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on hospitality, teamwork, professional presentation, and genuine care for guests. Employees may receive structured training, staff meals, uniform support, medical or insurance benefits, and opportunities for internal development, depending on the property and employment terms. Working for the company can provide useful experience in international hotel operations, particularly for candidates interested in food and beverage service, front-line guest relations, or a longer-term hospitality career.

Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, finance, retail, technology, and international business. The hospitality sector regularly recruits room service staff, restaurant servers, kitchen employees, receptionists, and supervisors, especially in busy districts such as Tsim Sha Tsui, Central, and Causeway Bay. Life is fast-paced, compact, and highly connected, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, nightlife, beaches, and hiking trails. Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in hotels and business settings; Mandarin can also be useful. Most overseas employees need an appropriate employment visa sponsored by their employer, and applications generally require a confirmed job and proof of qualifications or experience. New arrivals should budget carefully because rent is high. Employer-provided accommodation is uncommon, so shared housing and locations near MTR stations are practical relocation choices.
