Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers extensive opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, retail, finance, technology and professional services. Hospitality roles are concentrated on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, with strong demand for staff who speak English, Cantonese or Mandarin. Life is fast-paced, highly urban and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, hiking trails and beaches. Housing can be expensive, so employees should compare salary, accommodation and commuting costs before relocating. Foreign nationals normally require an employment visa sponsored by an employer, and must meet immigration requirements before starting work. A valid passport, signed contract and proof of qualifications or experience may be required. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, medical coverage and a local bank account, while learning basic Cantonese can improve daily life and guest communication.
