About the employer

Shangri-La is a well-established luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and other international destinations. Its properties are known for personalised service, refined dining, comfortable accommodation and strong attention to local culture. In Thailand, Shangri-La operates premium hotels and resorts, including properties in Bangkok and Phuket, offering restaurants, banqueting, wellness facilities and event services. Employees generally work in a structured international environment with opportunities to develop through hotel training and cross-department experience. Culinary team members are expected to maintain high standards of quality, hygiene, consistency and guest service while working closely with colleagues from different cultural backgrounds.

Working in Thailand

Thailand offers hospitality opportunities on islands and coastal destinations such as Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi and Koh Phi Phi. Luxury resorts, restaurants, beach clubs and hotels regularly recruit chefs, pastry specialists, servers, spa staff and front-office professionals, although competition can be strong during high season. Island life is relaxed and outdoor-focused, with beaches, markets, temples, seafood and a welcoming local culture. Living costs vary; accommodation may be provided by the employer, but transport and housing can be more expensive in popular resort areas. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored Non-Immigrant B visa and a Thai work permit before starting employment. Requirements can include passport documents, qualifications, medical checks and police clearance. Candidates should confirm sponsorship, salary, service charge, accommodation, meals, insurance and renewal arrangements directly with the hotel.
