The Senior Sales Manager (MICE) is responsible for generating and managing business from meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions. Requirements typically include a degree or diploma in hospitality, business or a related field, several years of hotel or MICE sales experience, strong knowledge of the Indonesian market, and proven negotiation and account-management skills. Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia is usually expected. The successful candidate should be commercially focused, confident presenting to corporate clients, well connected with event planners, and capable of achieving revenue targets. The role also requires close coordination with events, banqueting, rooms and operations teams while maintaining Shangri-La service standards.
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a luxury hospitality group originating from Hong Kong, with hotels and resorts across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international destinations. The company is known for personalised service, elegant accommodation, extensive food and beverage offerings, and strong meeting and events facilities. Shangri-La properties commonly serve leisure travellers, corporate guests, weddings and large conferences. The group places emphasis on genuine hospitality, colleague development, cultural awareness and consistent operating standards. In Indonesia, its hospitality operations are associated with major business and resort markets, where sales teams work with corporate accounts, travel agencies, event organisers and destination-management companies. A Senior Sales Manager in the MICE segment would support commercial growth by developing client relationships, securing events and promoting the hotel as a preferred venue.
Indonesia offers opportunities in hotel sales, events, tourism, food and beverage, resorts and corporate travel, especially in Bali, Java, Lombok and major cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya. Bali is the best-known international lifestyle destination, combining beaches, Hindu culture, wellness, restaurants and an active expatriate community. Java provides stronger corporate, education and business networks, while Lombok and other islands offer a quieter resort lifestyle. Daily expenses vary considerably: Jakarta and popular Bali areas can be costly, whereas smaller cities are generally more affordable. Respectful dress and behaviour at religious sites, punctuality, and awareness of local customs are important. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate limited-stay visa before commencing employment; tourist visas do not authorise work. Candidates should confirm sponsorship, accommodation, health insurance, taxes and relocation support directly with the employer.
