Its brands are known for warm Asian hospitality, high service standards and carefully developed dining, wellness and guest-experience offerings. Shangri-La hotels typically provide structured training, international career opportunities and comprehensive operational standards. In Indonesia, the group has operated premium hospitality properties serving leisure and business travellers, with an emphasis on personalised service and local cultural character. The company generally seeks managers who can maintain luxury standards while developing engaged teams and delivering strong commercial results.

Working in Indonesia

For a hospitality role in Indonesia, Bali is the most internationally connected option, with strong opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, resorts, wellness and tourism. Other possibilities include Java, Lombok and the Riau Islands, although salaries, transport and access to international amenities vary. Daily life in Bali combines a relaxed outdoor lifestyle with busy tourist areas, Hindu ceremonies, community traditions and a diverse expatriate population. Candidates should respect local customs, dress appropriately at religious sites and learn basic Indonesian. Foreign employees normally require employer-sponsored work authorization, commonly involving a work permit and limited-stay visa; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Employers usually manage the application, but requirements and costs should be confirmed before accepting an offer. Consider housing, healthcare, transport, taxes and service-charge policies carefully when comparing packages.
