Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with extensive coastal areas and resort destinations. Hospitality, aviation, retail, tourism, events, construction, technology and finance offer strong employment opportunities. The culture combines Emirati traditions, Islamic values and a highly international population; respectful dress and behavior are expected, especially during Ramadan. Lifestyle options range from beaches and desert activities to shopping, dining and modern entertainment. Employers normally sponsor work visas for eligible overseas employees, while UAE nationals follow national employment and social-insurance arrangements. Relocating workers should confirm visa sponsorship, medical testing, Emirates ID procedures, accommodation, transport, insurance and end-of-service benefits before accepting an offer. Costs can be high, particularly for housing, so the full benefits package is important. Summers are extremely hot, though indoor facilities are well air-conditioned.
