Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Ras Al Khaimah. Hospitality, tourism, construction, aviation, retail, technology, healthcare, and facilities management provide strong employment opportunities. The culture blends Emirati traditions with a large international community; modest dress, respect for religion, and awareness of local customs are important. Lifestyle options range from modern cities, beaches, shopping, and restaurants to desert activities and mountain excursions. Employers normally arrange a work permit and residence visa after hiring, with medical checks and Emirates ID registration required. UAE Nationals receive additional career support through Emiratisation programmes. Expatriates should confirm accommodation, transport, insurance, annual leave, and visa sponsorship in the employment contract. The climate is hot for much of the year, while winters are generally pleasant. Living costs vary considerably, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi usually more expensive than other emirates.
