The Senior Corporate Counsel will provide legal advice to Shangri-La’s corporate and hotel operations, with particular responsibility for dispute resolution, litigation management, risk assessment and commercial matters. The role typically requires a qualified lawyer with substantial post-qualification experience, preferably gained in an international law firm or multinational company. Experience handling complex disputes, contracts, investigations and cross-border issues is highly desirable. The successful candidate should have strong analytical, drafting and negotiation skills, sound business judgment and the ability to communicate clearly with senior stakeholders. Fluency in English is expected; Cantonese or Mandarin and experience with Hong Kong law would be advantageous. The position also calls for discretion, independence and the ability to manage several matters across different jurisdictions.

About the employer

Shangri-La Group is a Hong Kong-based luxury hospitality company operating hotels, resorts and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. Its portfolio includes the Shangri-La, Kerry Hotels, JEN by Shangri-La and Traders brands. The group is known for high-service standards, refined guest experiences and a strong focus on Asian hospitality. Its corporate functions support a geographically diverse organisation involving hotel operations, property development, investments, procurement, technology and commercial partnerships. A corporate legal role in Hong Kong may therefore involve advising headquarters and regional teams on disputes, contracts, regulatory matters, governance and risk management. Benefits and working arrangements vary by position, seniority and the employing entity.

Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a compact, international city with a fast-paced business environment and excellent opportunities in finance, law, technology, hospitality, retail and professional services. Its culture combines Chinese traditions with strong international influences, and English is widely used in business. Living costs, especially rent, are high, but public transport is efficient and reliable. Residents enjoy excellent restaurants, shopping, cultural attractions, beaches and hiking trails, often within a short journey of central districts. Overseas professionals normally need an employer-sponsored employment visa, with the employer demonstrating a genuine role and suitable qualifications; dependants may generally apply for dependant visas. Relocating usually involves arranging accommodation, medical insurance, banking and tax registration. Hong Kong is not technically an island only—it includes Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories—but the wider territory offers a distinctive mix of urban energy and outdoor life.
