The Senior Corporate Counsel will provide legal advice to Shangri-La Group and its business units on corporate, commercial, governance, contracts, investments, and risk matters. The role typically requires a qualified lawyer with substantial post-qualification experience, preferably gained in an international law firm or multinational company. Experience in Hong Kong, Asia-Pacific transactions, hospitality, property, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and commercial agreements would be valuable. The successful candidate should have strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and communication skills, sound business judgment, and the ability to manage multiple matters independently. The position also requires a practical, collaborative approach and the confidence to advise senior executives across different markets.
Shangri-La Group is a Hong Kong-based luxury hospitality company with hotels, resorts, residences, and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and other international markets. Founded in 1971, the group is known for its Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts brand, as well as properties operating under brands such as Kerry Hotels, JEN by Shangri-La, and Traders. Its portfolio includes urban hotels, island resorts, serviced residences, and mixed-use developments. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on Asian hospitality, personalized service, guest experience, sustainability, and long-term relationships with colleagues and business partners. Corporate roles in Hong Kong support the group’s legal, financial, commercial, operational, and strategic activities across multiple jurisdictions.
Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in legal, finance, hospitality, technology, retail, property, and international business, with many regional headquarters based in the city. Its culture combines Chinese traditions, Cantonese heritage, and global influences; English is widely used in professional settings. Lifestyle options range from fast-paced urban living, excellent dining, and shopping to hiking, beaches, and quieter outlying islands. Housing is expensive, particularly near Central and major business districts, while public transport is efficient and extensive. Overseas professionals generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer, with approval depending on qualifications, salary, and the role’s business need. Applicants should arrange accommodation, health insurance, banking, tax registration, and documentation before relocation. Hong Kong’s compact geography makes commuting practical, although rents and living costs should be carefully considered.
