The Audio & Video Technician supports hotel events, conferences, meetings and entertainment by setting up, operating and dismantling microphones, speakers, projectors, screens, lighting and other audiovisual equipment. Candidates should have practical experience in AV production, event technology or hotel operations, along with basic troubleshooting skills and familiarity with sound, video and lighting systems. Good communication, customer service and teamwork are essential. The role requires flexibility to work shifts, weekends and public holidays, maintain equipment safely, respond quickly to event requirements and present a professional appearance. Experience in a luxury hotel or hospitality environment, technical qualifications and knowledge of current AV systems would be advantageous.
Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Asia and recognised for its premium hotels, resorts and residences across the world. The company operates properties in major cities and resort destinations, providing accommodation, dining, wellness, meetings and event services. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on personalised service, Asian-inspired hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences. Its United Arab Emirates properties serve international leisure and business travellers and regularly host conferences, weddings and corporate functions. Employees typically work in multicultural teams and may receive benefits such as staff accommodation or housing support, meals, transportation, medical coverage, annual leave and travel-related privileges, depending on the property and employment contract. The company generally values professionalism, cultural awareness, teamwork, technical competence and a strong commitment to guest satisfaction.
The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a Gulf federation made up of seven emirates, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi. It offers strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, events, retail, aviation, construction, technology and finance, especially for skilled hospitality and technical workers. The culture combines Islamic traditions with a highly international lifestyle; modest dress and respectful behaviour are expected in public and at work. Dubai and Abu Dhabi provide modern housing, public transport, beaches, restaurants and entertainment, although living costs can be high. Employers normally arrange an employment entry permit, medical testing, Emirates ID and residence visa after hiring. Relocation packages may include accommodation, transport, meals, health insurance and an annual flight, but these benefits vary. Candidates should verify the written contract, recruitment fees, working hours and accommodation before travelling. Summers are extremely hot, while winters are comfortable and popular for outdoor activities.
