Indonesia offers opportunities in luxury hotels, resorts, property management, tourism, engineering, security, and environmental safety, especially in Bali, Java, Lombok, and the Riau Islands. Bali is the best-known international destination, with a relaxed lifestyle, strong expatriate community, beaches, temples, and year-round tourism, although traffic and living costs can be high in popular areas. Java, including Jakarta and Surabaya, provides broader corporate and hospitality employment and better urban transport. Indonesian culture values courtesy, community, religious diversity, and respect for local customs; modest dress is appropriate at temples and during ceremonies. Foreign workers generally need employer sponsorship, an approved work permit, and the correct stay visa, with requirements subject to change. Secure accommodation, health insurance, transport, and tax arrangements before relocating, and confirm whether the employer provides housing or meals.
