Working in Indonesia

Indonesia offers hospitality opportunities across Bali, Java, Lombok, Batam and other resort destinations. Bali has the largest concentration of international hotels, restaurants and tourism jobs, while Jakarta and Surabaya provide more urban hotel and business opportunities. Kitchen roles can offer staff meals, accommodation, transport or service charge, but these benefits vary by property. Local culture values politeness, community, religious diversity and respectful communication; modest dress and sensitivity toward ceremonies are important. Lifestyle ranges from busy city living to relaxed coastal communities, with traffic and seasonal tourism affecting daily routines. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate Indonesian employment visa before starting work. Employers normally guide the immigration process, and working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Candidates should confirm salary, housing, insurance, contract length, leave and visa responsibilities before relocating.
