Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, IT support, finance, engineering, tourism and customer service, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and the islands of Sabah and Sarawak. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences, and English is widely used in tourism and business. Lifestyle ranges from busy city living to relaxed coastal communities, with affordable food, tropical weather and easy access to beaches, diving and rainforests. Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, Perhentian and the Sabah islands are popular destinations, although island living can be seasonal and more limited for shopping or healthcare. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass before starting work; the employer generally handles the application.
