Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a densely connected international city and archipelago, with Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories offering very different lifestyles. Hospitality, finance, retail, aviation, technology and professional services provide strong employment opportunities, while luxury hotels regularly recruit experienced security, front-office, culinary and management professionals. Cantonese is widely used, but English is common in business and hotels; Mandarin is also valuable. The city combines high-rise urban living, excellent public transport, vibrant food and arts scenes, hiking trails and nearby beaches. Accommodation and daily expenses can be high, especially on Hong Kong Island. Foreign employees normally need an employment visa sponsored by a local employer, with qualifications and relevant experience assessed under immigration rules. Employers often assist with visa paperwork, but candidates should confirm housing, medical coverage, flights and relocation benefits before accepting an offer.
