Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a compact, energetic city with a strong hospitality, finance, retail, technology and logistics job market. Opportunities are concentrated in hotels, restaurants, attractions, events and luxury retail, particularly on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and at the airport. Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is commonly used in international workplaces and Mandarin is valuable. The lifestyle combines dense urban districts, excellent public transport, shopping and dining with beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Accommodation can be expensive, so many employees share flats or live in districts connected by MTR lines. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored visa, commonly through the General Employment Policy, and must meet qualification and salary requirements. Employers often assist with documentation, but candidates should confirm visa, insurance and relocation terms before accepting an offer. Hong Kong has a fast-paced, safe and highly connected environment.
