About the employer

Shangri-La is a major luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and recognized for its Asian-inspired service and strong focus on genuine care. The group operates hotels, resorts, and related properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and other international markets. Shangri-La hotels are known for elegant accommodation, high service standards, restaurants, wellness facilities, and attentive guest experiences. The company promotes hospitality values such as respect, sincerity, humility, and teamwork. In Hong Kong, Shangri-La properties serve business and leisure travelers and offer employees opportunities to build careers in rooms, food and beverage, culinary operations, engineering, sales, and other hotel functions. Benefits and working conditions vary by property and position, but may include service charge, staff meals, uniforms, training, medical coverage, and internal development opportunities.

Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a compact international city with a fast-paced lifestyle, excellent public transport, and a strong hospitality and tourism sector. Job opportunities are available in luxury hotels, restaurants, airlines, cruise services, retail, finance, and events, with Cantonese and English often valuable. The culture blends Chinese traditions with international influences; festivals, temples, dim sum, markets, hiking trails, beaches, and vibrant nightlife are major attractions. Living costs are high, especially rent, so many employees share accommodation or live in areas outside Central. Eligible overseas workers generally need an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong employer, and the role must meet immigration requirements. Employers commonly assist with documentation, but applicants should confirm visa, contract, accommodation, medical, and insurance details before relocating. Hong Kong Island is only one part of the territory, alongside Kowloon and the New Territories.
