Its properties are recognized for thoughtful Asian hospitality, personalized service, comfortable accommodation, and strong attention to guest experience. Shangri-La’s residences typically serve long-stay guests, property owners, and premium travelers who expect privacy, convenience, and responsive support. Employees work in a multicultural environment and are generally expected to demonstrate warmth, professionalism, teamwork, and cultural awareness. Benefits and working conditions vary by property and employment contract, but hospitality roles may include meals, uniforms, service charge, insurance, training, and staff accommodation where available.

Working in Indonesia

Indonesia is an archipelago with major hospitality opportunities in Bali, Jakarta, Surabaya, Lombok, Batam, and other resort destinations. Bali offers strong tourism employment, an international community, beaches, wellness businesses, and a relaxed lifestyle, although rent and traffic can be challenging in popular areas. Jakarta provides broader corporate and luxury-hotel opportunities, extensive dining and shopping, and a faster urban lifestyle. Indonesian culture values politeness, community, family, and respectful communication; learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is highly useful. Employees should expect tropical weather, varied transport options, and regional differences in customs and living costs. Foreign nationals must obtain an appropriate employer-sponsored work permit and residence authorization before working; a tourist or short-stay visa does not permit employment. Candidates should confirm salary, service charge, accommodation, medical cover, relocation support, and visa responsibilities directly with Shangri-La before accepting an offer.
