The group is recognised for warm Asian hospitality, high service standards and distinctive destination properties. In Penang, Shangri-La operates Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa and Golden Sands Resort, two established beachfront resorts located in Batu Ferringhi. Rasa Sayang focuses on luxury accommodation, wellness, dining and refined guest experiences, while Golden Sands offers family-friendly facilities and recreational activities. Working in Malaysia

Penang Island is one of Malaysia’s best-known destinations, combining beaches, heritage, food and a lively urban lifestyle. Job opportunities are strongest in hotels, restaurants, tourism, events, retail, healthcare, education and shared services, particularly around George Town and Batu Ferringhi. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and international influences, and English is widely used in hospitality and business. Lifestyle options range from affordable local food and cafés to beach activities, hiking, shopping and a busy arts scene. Rent and transport are generally more affordable than Kuala Lumpur, although beachfront areas cost more. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with the company handling the application and approvals. Candidates should secure a formal offer, confirm salary and benefits, arrange accommodation and check current Malaysian immigration requirements before relocating.
