Working in Indonesia

Indonesia offers hospitality opportunities across Bali, Java, Lombok, Sumatra, Sulawesi and the many smaller islands. Bali has the largest concentration of luxury resorts, restaurants and wellness businesses, while Jakarta and Surabaya provide strong corporate and urban hotel markets. Lombok and eastern islands offer growing resort opportunities. Daily life can range from busy city living to relaxed coastal communities. Indonesian culture values hospitality, family, community and religious diversity; respectful dress and local customs are important. Costs vary considerably, with Bali tourist areas generally more expensive than many other regions. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work and stay permit, commonly arranged through the company before employment begins. Relocation packages may include accommodation, flights, insurance and meals, but these should be confirmed in writing. Learn basic Bahasa Indonesia, check healthcare access, and research climate, transport and local living conditions before moving.
